The Shooting In Vegas

The shooting in Vegas on October 1st 2017 was something no one knew or would expected to have happen. Law enforcement officials said Tuesday October 3 2017 at least a dozen of the 23 firearms recovered in Las Vegas were semiautomatic rifles legally modified to fire like automatic weapons, using an alteration known as a bump fire stock. Stephen Paddock killed 58 people and injured hundreds more at a country music concert as he fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Sunday October 1st night. The FBI and the ATF are assisting local investigators who must determine whether the killer acted alone, or whether he was aided in the shooting. Stephen Paddock wanted to know how Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department SWAT teams force their way into rooms and buildings, but it was unclear if the shooter used any of that information, a law-enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation told the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. The revelation came after investigators found a laptop belonging to Paddock in his hotel room that was missing its hard drive. In a stunning development, the missing hard drive has not been located and it could be key in finding out why Paddock killed 58 people during the Oct. 1 attack. Investigators are looking into whether gunman Stephen Paddock scoped out bigger music festivals in Las Vegas and Chicago and perhaps Boston’s Fenway Park before setting up his perch in a casino hotel and raining deadly fire on country music fans. Paddock booked rooms overlooking the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago in August and the Life Is Beautiful show near the Vegas Strip in late September, according to authorities reconstructing his movements before he undertook the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history. It was not clear if he aborted plans to carry out massacres at those sites. Investigators looking into Paddock also came across mention of Fenway Park, Boston police lieutenant detective Mike McCarthy said, though he provided no further details. Stephen Paddock’s girlfriend may be hiding something from investigators who are trying to piece together the motive behind the Las Vegas massacre, the city’s sheriff suggested in a wide-ranging interview with a local television station. Marilou Danley, who is still a person of interest in the case, has told authorities that she never knew the attack was coming. Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, in his first TV appearance in nearly three weeks, told KLAS that investigators he’s spoken to believe this assessment is accurate. But he added that something appears to be off about the manner in which Paddock amassed his arsenal of weapons.“There is a lot of people that have hundreds and hundreds of guns, but for this individual to do it at a certain point in time and to do it all with such robust action, you would think that Ms. Danley would have some information associated with that,” he said. “But currently we haven’t been able to pull that out of her, if it’s in her.” Lombardo added that Danley will be interviewed again this week and he suggested she could have prevented the massacre, which left 58 dead and hundreds injured.
