HOSA State

This year, the Kuna HOSA club was able to go to a State competition and compete in many health related events. Kuna was extremely successful at the competition. HOSA member, Kenya Morales, came out on top in her Medical Law & Ethics event and is heading to Nationals; she won a scholarship and became HOSA State Officer. Information was gathered to get insight into how Kuna did at State and how HOSA impacts Kuna students.

HOSA is an international student-led organization and at State they compete in different chapters in the state. Some events that they compete in are: health professions, emergency preparedness, and leadership. HOSA is beneficial to Kuna because it provides students with the opportunity to gain knowledge about the health care field they want to pursue. For example, if a student wants to become a veterinarian, HOSA provides a veterinary science event where they can practice the skills involved for that job.

Kuna was very successful at State. Hillary Waldal won 1st in Job Seeking Skills and Mikayla Macaluso and Sophia McGregor won 1st, the second year in a row, in Health Career Display. These three girls will be competing at Nationals.

If you are a student that enjoys the healthcare field, you should join HOSA. They can provide you with good insight into the healthcare field you want to join. They can also make you passionate for the job you want to pursue.
