Down syndrome awarness

Down syndrome is a Chromosomal caused by an error in cell division that results in an extra Chromosome 21.  Trisomy 21, the medical term for Down syndrome occurs in about 200,000 us cases per year. October is Down syndrome awareness month and the combination of blue and yellow is the national down syndrome color. Although October is now over that 100% is no excuse to not show your appreciation towards down syndrome awareness. Down syndrome does not define a person, it is simply a part of them, just like someone's eye color or the color of their hair. People with down syndrome can still lead perfectly normal lives with just something different about them than you or someone else. Another way you can show your awareness to Down syndrome is by paying attention to your vocabulary and making sure that you never say the R word. Unless you are using the medical terminology to describe someone who is challenged, and you are using it in a derogatory way. You need to make a change and realize what you're saying is immensely offensive. Down syndrome is something is someone has. Not something someone is, so treat them just as you would with anyone.
